Why did you apply for Pattern design with sewing at Tillskärarakademin in Gothenburg?

Three years ago I went to a simple sewing course in Angered. While attending the course my teacher taught me how to make simple patterns and helped me to understand what pattern making is all about, and I realized that I wanted to develop myself and go further. The teacher recommended me to attend the Pattern design programme at Tillskärarakademin in Gothenburg, for which I am very  grateful. I was fortunate enough to see the previous year final runway show. I was so impressed and wanted to see myself in that spot. This year, achieving all the things that I wanted, is like a dream come true.

 

What have you learned from the education?

Attending this program helped me to develop myself personally and technically. I have learnt the design process and trusting to follow the steps involved, from research to a finished garment. It helped me to push myself  to achieve for better, to understand who I am and what I am capable of. It also Improved my skills to work in groups and share ideas.

Where does your interest in sewing and pattern design come from?

My drive came from an early age. It started with recycling my mother's old clothes and trying to make them more modern and fashionable, to suit my needs. I am always determined when it comes to fashion and things that I want to achieve. My hard work and ambition made my mother to buy me a sewing machine for my 13th birthday. After moving to Sweden, which is three years ago, I decided to fully commit myself to the field and fulfil my dream.

 

How is it to study at Tillskärarakademin in Gothenburg?

It felt like a right place to be with friendly environment surrounded by skillful and thoughtful teachers. In addition, ambitious students who wants to contribute with something special in the future, made it even more interesting to be part of.

What are your plans after the education?

Taking this program gave me a clear idea of what I want to do in the future, which is studying the Direktris / Technical designer programme. It is a key enabler for production and the skills acquired during the study is in great demand in the fashion industry.

Would you recomend the school to others?

Yes, I highly recommend it. It is one of the best schools in Sweden with very experienced teachers.

Can you tell us about your final collection?

The title of my collection is SENTIMENT. In my collection I have tried to demonstrate how I perceive happiness through nature that can reflect colors and shapes.  I have tried to incorporate happy colors and unique designs in a way that could reflect simplicity and modernity at the same time.
